The company began writing policies for the general public in 1986 and with the help of a local insurance underwriter, Mr. Ed Altorfer, Red Shield began writing policies for small to mid-sized businesses.
Since that time, Red Shield has worked hard to establish and maintain an "A" (Excellent) Rating from A.M Best.
Based in Portland, Oregon, Red Shield's western regional scope covers the states of California (floating property only), Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Our "program" is designated to provide package coverage for newer parks with a clubhouse or community center that qualifies for special form property coverage, thus qualifying the risk for our Mobile Home Park Enhancement endorsement, which provides the fringe coverages that drive business in this class.
