Well-known to the Dayton community for his basketball prowess in the 1950's, William G. Uhl Sr., used his 7-foot frame to become a consensus second-team All-American center for the University of Dayton Flyers in 1956.
Originally from Greenfield, Ohio and subsequently earning the nickname "Greenfield Goliath, " William led the Flyers to the NIT championship games in 1955 and 1956, was named to Dayton's All-Century team during the 2004-04 season, and was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
