The Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (MPIUA) also known as the Massachusetts FAIR Plan (Fair Access to Insurance Requirements) provides basic property insurance on eligible property for applicants who have been unable to gain insurance through the voluntary market. MPIUA offers policies under the Homeowners, Dwelling Fire and Commercial Property programs as approved by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance.
Services
FAIR Plans are the outgrowth of the national emergency created by three years of rioting in American cities, beginning with the Watts outbreak in 1965.
When the rioting of the 1960s suddenly mushroomed to disastrous proportions, the companies found themselves in the position of having to pay losses in excess of $100 million, on which they had collected no specific premium.
Although the companies paid these losses, their capacity was severely taxed and their normal riot reinsurance market had dried up.
The faster you report your claim, the sooner we can help you.
If you do not have your insurance policy number, make sure you provide MPIUA with your full name insured on the policy, address, and how to reach you, providing your email address, work number, cell phone number, or temporary home number as well as full address of loss location if different from your home address.
Protect property from further damage by arranging for reasonable temporary repairs as soon as possible.
For example, if windows are broken, have them boarded up to protect your home and property against vandalism or weather damage.
Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (MPIUA) provides the ability for mortgage companies to access policy renewal information.
Information available include insured name, property address, mortgagee(s), policy term, policy year, premium due, coverage A amount, producer name and phone number, and recent payment history.
