Claims Made coverage applies to any claim that is filed within a specific policy period.
This coverage can be applied to the period before the expiration date of a policy and for a patient you saw after your "retroactive date".
Any new claim made while you do not have a policy in place, will not be covered unless you purchase an extended reporting endorsement.
Occurrence coverage is the gold standard.
Regardless of the time of filed claim, this will cover you for all patients seen within the year of purchased policy.
