Shafer Insurance Agency was established in 1900 in Byesville, Ohio by the late John B. Shafer.
He moved the agency to Cambridge and ran it until he passed in 1923.
His son, L. M. "Bing" Shafer, obtained his insurance license in 1921 and continued the family business until 1977.
Third generation, John R. Shafer, joined his father in the agency in 1956 and continued the family legacy for 63 years.
After John R. Shafer's passing in 2019, the agency moved to the 4th generation of Shafer family ownership with John's children, Rick and Mike Shafer and Sue Rakowich.
