Services
If there are people who financially depend on you, life insurance makes a lot of sense.
Whether it's a friend, family member, child, bank or business associate, if the worst happens, you can still protect them.
Life insurance financially protects the people you love (or do business with).
What would happen if you weren't here to support your family or to ensure your kid goes to college or to re-pay that loan?
There'd be a lot of suffering going on and The Insurance Mom doesn't want anyone to suffer.
It's an easy assumption.
But The Insurance Mom doesn't want you to go there.
Here's what's real.
More than 60% of us will need some kind of long term care at some time in our lives.
In California, the average cost of a one-year stay in a nursing home is $80,300, an amount that grows at about 5% annually.
The cost of care in your own home can be upwards of $40,000 a year.
When it comes to financial planning, determining how to pay for Long Term Care is often the last item that families address, even though it may be the most important.
The Insurance Mom says that without insurance you could face catastrophic financial problems.
Health insurance is sort of like car insurance.
You don't have car insurance to pay for that annoying flat tire or broken mirror.
You have car insurance in case of a major accident.
Right?
It's the same idea for health insurance.
No insurance is going to pay for all of your boo-boos, but it will protect you against the enormous costs you can accumulate if something serious happens.
When I was urgently hospitalized for four days last year, the bill was over $100,000!
Without an income, you can't pay for your car or your house or get a new bicycle or even download new tunes!
If you can't work because of an injury or illness, Disability Insurance will replace your lost income.
And, if you pay for the insurance yourself, the monthly benefit you get from Disability Insurance is tax-free.
If you have a favorite chicken soup recipe and would like to share it, please send it to Alison@TheInsuranceMom.com.
If you have a family member or a friend who requires this soup, and you take the time to make it for them, you will have a friend for life!
Oil the chicken and vegetables, salt and pepper lightly and place skin side up in hot oven for 20-25 minutes or until nicely browned.
NOTE: If you prefer to have a clearer soup, you may wrap all of these veggies (except the carrot & parsnip) and seasonings in cheesecloth tied with string and toss when finished.
