The Bernache family has been tied to the insurance industry for nearly 100 years. Bill Bernache began his insurance journey in the 1930s. He started his agency in North Hampton Massachusetts and prided himself on providing unmatched service to his clients. William Bernache carried the torch and entered into the insurance industry in the mid 1960s.
He was working for a national carrier until 1988 when the company proclaimed "Massachusetts was too expensive for business" and pulled out of the state. This left customers without coverage and scrambling for answers. William and partners founded Aegis Insurance Agency with the mission to fight back against the massive insurance companies that cared very little about their Massachusetts customers.
Richard (3rd generation) joined the agency at this time. William had a vision of an independent agency that put clients interests first, while providing competitive rates. The AEGIS is a shield carried primarily by Zeus in Greek mythology. This divine shield was to serve one purpose, to shield and protect.
