The Missouri Insurance Coalition (MIC) is a nonprofit governmental affairs and consumer education organization representing the insurance industry.
MIC was established to foster a better understanding of the insurance business.
MIC strives to improve the regulatory climate and maintain a free enterprise competitive system in the insurance marketplace.
Approximately 85 insurance groups and affiliated organizations, along with the industry's largest trade associations, are members of MIC.
MIC's Legislative Committee reviews all legislative and regulatory proposals pertaining to insurance and establishes the organization's governmental affairs agenda.
The "Capitol Review" is published monthly throughout the year.
It contains up-to-date news on legislation, reports from the Missouri Department of Insurance and a variety of articles concerning the Missouri insurance industry.
The "Insurance News at the Capitol" is a weekly publication provided to members every Thursday afternoon during the Missouri Legislative Session.
It details and provides up to the minute information on key bills of interest to the insurance industry and summarizes the week's activities of the Missouri General Assembly.
Brandon Koch, Executive Director; Stephen Witte, Government Affairs Director and Brent Butler, General Counsel, are all registered lobbyists and responsible for coordinating efforts on behalf of the Missouri insurance industry.
Along with members of the MIC Legislative Committee, comprised of insurance company and trade association consultants, the MIC staff spearheads a proactive agenda and, when necessary, mounts a full-court defensive press against onerous legislative proposals.
With the MIC office located just two blocks away, our lobbyists are in the Capitol Building on a daily basis ensuring constant contact between Missouri legislators and the insurance industry.
