First Newnan Insurance Group, an independent agency, was incorporated in 1989 by William (Bill) McCalla. Bill was a 2nd generation "insurance man" who held a Master's degree in Insurance from Georgia State University and had spent the prior decade (1979 - 1989) working in the insurance field for Great American Insurance Company, State Farm, and Alexander & Alexander, the national insurance brokerage firm.
While he gathered experience from these companies, he had a vision for his own independent agency. After five years of rapid growth, his current location was not sufficient to service the volume of his expanded customer base. In 1995, he acquired property in the Thomas Crossroads area of Newnan, Georgia and expanded his growing agency. In 2006, a branch office was opened in Cornelia, Georgia and later relocated to Demorest, Georgia to service the needs of the north Georgia customer base.
The north Georgia branch office operates as "The Insurance Group, " a division of First Newnan Insurance Group.
