Dealing with an insurance claim is very stressful and most people do not know what to do when a loss occurs. When I was a kid my family had a big party for the holidays and during our family party we smelt that something was burning. A few moments go by and the smell got more noticeable and the smell came from the attic. My father opened the attic door and smoke came in and filled up the home.
We called the fire department and our home was on fire. Thankfully they were able to put it out in a timely manner but much damage had been done. My parents never been through this before and they thought the insurance company would take care of everything. The insurance company sent our their companies to come inspect the damage and they were denying certain parts of coverage that we now know we were entitled to, they had companies take out our belongings many of which were lost and not accounted for.
They did not grant us sufficient funds to fix the home as it was before. We lived in a hotel for over 3 months as the process was being delayed to fix our home.
